Kintsugi Arita Porcelain Serving Platter (26.5 cm)

Some objects wait quietly in storage for decades, holding onto their beauty until the right moment comes along.

Made in Arita, the historical center of Japanese porcelain, this 26.5 cm serving platter carries a vivid pattern of red, blue, and gold peonies. It sat unused for years, preserved in remarkable condition. Rather than leaving it tucked away, we gave it a fresh line of life through traditional kintsugi.

Instead of using gold, this piece was restored with natural urushi lacquer and finished with fine brass powder. A single golden seam now runs straight down the center, cutting through the intricate floral design. It creates a calm contrast between classical porcelain craft and the quiet philosophy of wabi-sabi.

Over time, the brass seam will soften and develop its own natural patina, slowly aging alongside the ceramic. You can use it as a serving platter for quiet dinners or place it on a stand as an interior art piece.

Care Instructions
